How to Help Your Child
The goal of the Empower Vape-Free Youth campaign is to empower educators to speak with youth about the risks of e-cigarettes and nicotine addiction and to encourage youth to avoid and/or quit vaping. Educators include teachers, coaches, school counselors, and on-site administrators (e.g., principals, vice-principals, etc.) in U.S. middle and high schools.
Before the talk: Know the facts. Get credible information about e-cigarettes and young people at E-cigarettes.SurgeonGeneral.gov.
Over 5,700 kids start vaping every day. Misconceptions, peer pressure and marketing tactics all contribute to the staggering rise. Talk to your kids about e-cigarettes while they're still willing to listen.
Take Action
This includes reporting gas stations, convenient stores and smoke shops etc. who sell these products to minors, including counterfeit JUUL pods, sales of open packages (loose pods), free giveaways and sales in non-authorized venues.
