Parents Against Vaping E-cigarettes Statement

On FDA’s First Denials of Menthol E-cigarettes

We are enormously gratified by today’s FDA decision to deny marketing orders for two of Logic’s menthol products, the first time the agency has denied menthol e-cigarettes. According to the latest federal data, menthol remains among the most popular flavors for millions of teens who vape— and that doesn’t even include the millions of “iced” mentholated products that are new teen favorites and not yet included in the CDC’s youth tobacco survey.

The FDA has clearly stated in its final rule ending the sale of menthol cigarettes that menthol amplifies addiction and increases youth initiation. Additionally, FDA CTP director Brian King has publicly stated that menthol’s harmful qualities are the same whether in cigarettes or e-cigarettes.

We hope this is just the first step in the agency’s ending the sale of all menthol and other flavored e-cigarettes to protect kids from nicotine addiction!
